We ♥ Lykans...well I do anyway!

Hello there!

So, the age old battle of Vamps Vs Weres is over: in my mind anyway.
I'll admit that, for a super long amount of time, it was the cold, bloodthristy, inhumanly beautiful (apparently sparkly) vampires that had won my heart. But, my mind has been changed...for good.

Now, if you read my interview with Blaire kensley you'd know that she's a vampire kinda gal.In her mind the shedding would get to her...a very valid point. So I guess we're on different teams now...

What changed my mind you ask?
Well, naturally, a book did. Not just any book; an awesome, one-of-a-kind tale told in three parts (yes, a trilogy.)

Cleaning up that grammar #4

Alright, so there won’t be a lot of drivel in this post, mainly because there is a lot to get through but also because I haven’t got much time!

There are 7 types of noun- including pronouns- in the English language. Bet you didn’t know that! It may sound like a lot to learn but we use them every day without realising. Once you read a short definition of each you’ll realise how simple it actually is. So here we go:

Cleaning up that grammar #3

Parts of speech, articles and determiners.
Nouns, pronouns, verbs ect will be described in more detail in seperate posts.

Parts of speech:

Every word in the English language can be put into categories according to it’s ‘grammatical functions’. A sentence is made up of these grammatical parts, hence the title parts of speech. In general there are eight parts of speech: interjection, conjunction, preposition, noun, pronoun, verb. adverb and adjective. There is a little poem that teaches about the parts of speech, you may have heard it before:

Cleaning up that grammar #2

A prefix is a group of letters (affix) that is added to the beginning of a word to change its meaning. Some prefixes such as UN- are called antonymic prefixes; this just means that it gives the new word the oppisite meaning (E.g. happy, unhappy) Prefixes you see everday, but might not know they're prefixes, include:

Cleaning up that grammar! #1

Literacy and grammar are two things we don't always get right. For example- during a good scene- it's easy to get lost in the action and to let our pen/fingers whisk us away. When we read it all over it seems fine...that is until you begin to question that comma, hyphen and semi-colon. Or whether you've used the right were/where your/you're excetera.

Some of you might be reading this with a that's-not-me attitude. That's fine; maybe you don't do this. Or maybe you just haven't picked up on it yet.

Now there are many things I could advise you on. I won't include them all because that would take hours! (Days even.) Now down to the nitty gritty...

Interview: Raine Thomas

Raine has a Degree in English and a Master’s degree in Humanities. Her trilogy DAUGHERS OF SARAQAEL was published from July - November 2nd, 2011. For more information on Raine, and short summary of her books, you can visit her website and blog at (this link).

Me: Tell us a little about yourself.
Raine: Sure! I was born in Chicago and have a lot of family there. I now live in the Orlando area after a number of years spent in South Carolina and Atlanta. Writing has always been a part of my life. Every job I've ever had has required me to exercise my degree in English...from writing and reviewing legal documents to generating grants for a nonprofit organization. I now also get to apply my master's degree in humanities (a degree program with a very broad and stimulating curriculum) in my creative writing, which thrills me. Outside of writing, I'm also a wedding planner and a wife and mother, so there's never a dull moment!

To write or not to write

Many of us are only part-time writers. The rest of the time we’re balancing home life, work, school, college, and a multitude of demanding tasks. It’s not unheard of to go days without writing. Sometimes we have no choice in the matter, sometimes we do. The question I’m asking is: should we be taking advantage of every opportunity to write?

Jason Rekulak said in his book The Writers Block: "Real writers usually write every day, whether they feel like it or not. Don't allow the limitations of your physical condition to interfere with your mind; don't make excuses for yourself!"

Exposed: Scooby Doo and Spongebob

Scooby Snax aside, "Scooby do is the healthiest of all children’s TV programmes." Health consultants conclude.

After consultants, from the Department Of Health, spent around 200 long hours watching children’s television programmes; a survey was released by the government calling Scooby Doo ‘healthiest’ children’s show. Why was this survey conducted? Well it came as the result of an attempt to assess the most active characters in children’s shows. The characters were given marks for things as simple as taking a walk and playing sport.

Fanfic - "Old Love."

This was posted around mid-august on the previous Blog.

Albus Dumbledore & Minerva McGonagall

She had been sat in that large cylindrical room for some time now. Her pointed hat, usually standing proudly on her head, was discarded on the desk; drooping and no longer magnificent. Minerva McGonagall wouldn't - couldn't - tear her eyes from the photograph. She had been searching through his things when she came across this particular one.

Pilot Post

Hello there!
If you've visited this URL before and are completely baffled at what you now see; that's to be expected! You see I had a blog on on here- Blogger- using this URL but it needed changing drastically. It had no structure, I wasn't posting because I didn't like my blog and it looked pretty boring; so I just deleted it!
